Finally some time
So what have I been up to the last two weeks?
Well went up to Western for a fun trip. I had to miss a class dinner, which I wanted to go to, but I figured this would be my only chance to go to Western this year, so I took it. I went up with Cary and between the two of us renting the car was quite pricey. A third person would have been nice.
Anyway, gave my friend Vince a ride back up to Western too. He was in Toronto visiting an Ivey alumnus and checking out his job. I wish they did a little more of that w/ us engineers, even though we have co-op, but even more exposure earlier would have been good. Engineering is sounding less and less attractive for some reason...
I got to visit eveyone's home in London and all I have to say is WoW. I doesn't even compare to the housing in Waterloo. Even though the prices are a bit more expensive, the quality of housing in London is luxurious. In comparison, the housing in Waterloo is hazardous. The four girls (Carol, Jo, Anne and Anita) have a really nice place that's very clean and includes cable! Which we took advantage of.
That weekend happened to be NBA all-star weekend. Now normally I would have to go someone else's house to view the game. Like Tim's in the past. But luckily the girls had cable and I could watch it. Actually for the all-star game the next day Matt was nice enough to tape it for me. To comment on them, I thought the dunk contest was much better than previous years. I was actually quite impressed considering my expectations were so low. Now, if they could only lure Vince, Kobe and T-mac...
And the all-star game was really exciting too...Double OT and Jordan almost making the game winning shot, if not for O'Neal and the ref interfering. And man did Vince look bad trying to guard Garnett. What was Isiah thinking!
A whole bunch of us went out to Kelsey's that night for dinner, which was fun. After being challenged to eat everyone's hard fajita filling shells, I did and was reward with a free ice tea from Jo. Thanks Jo!
Anyway after crashing on the couch that was too short for me, we had to head home, because I had to study for a math phys 2 midterm. I got home and Huy came over right away and we worked on it for the rest of the night. It's pretty tough. Should have picked something easier for workterm. Oh well too late now.
After coming back, I got sick and had to miss the midterm, which was inconvenient for everyone involved. I also missed a few days of work, which is always something I try to avoid. But they didn't want me puking at the office, so I went home.
But I was well enough in time for Valentine's! Kitty and I went to Alice Fazooli's for (an expensive) dinner. It was really good food....especially the chocolate-dipped strawberries. I never knew how good those things were! Afterwards we went to watch How to Lost a Guy in 10 Days. I felt sorry for the guy. Going to a Celine Dion concert instead of the Knick playoffs! That's cruel and unusual punishment. But the movie overall was quite humurous although it included lot's of stereotypes/cliches. For some reason I had something against the two lead's professions, Ad agency guy and Cosmo writer. Don't know why that struck me though.
My sister was back this week for reading week too. Her biggest accomplishment this week? Discovering a game called "Type or Die" Seriously. This is like a typical arcade game with the plastic guns you hold in your hand, but with a twist. Instead of aiming your "gun" at the screen, you type words and phrases to "kill" the zombies. So while an evil zombie is approaching you, you have to type out phrases like "apple sauce" and "I went to the supermarket". It's hilarious. Go get a demo here . (btw, i haven't tried that link, but I'm sure you can find it somewhere on the net.
One more thing for now...Check out Clear Type. Got this tip from Kevin's site. It makes fonts more readable. I was impressed at what a difference it made. Check it out.
And last thing of note. Blogger was bought out by Google! How exciting! I did my first work term report partly on Google and I think it'd be really cool to work there. Now I'm really excited to see what they come up with. Are you using Google yet? It's a really good idea that really should have been thought up earlier.
Have you checked out all the cool things they have going on? I like their news page b/c it's so exhaustive. The zeitgeist is always entertaining. I wonder if the zeitgeist will be combined with links from all the blogs. I always use the dictionary function, not to mention the rest of that stuff on that page.
And of course you must install the Google Toolbar. No, I"m quite serious on the last one....you must go there.
Anyway, that's it for now.

PS Did you notice how sneaky I was to make the Google Toolbar Page load up when you surfed here? Good 'ol Javascript.
PPS Haha, it's just like a popup ad of my choice. HaHa (Now I'm laughing at you!)
PPPS Google's not paying me, though I wish they did!!!
