Madden on Wii for Tim!

Did you like that video Tim? I considered getting Madden, but I wasn't so sure about getting it....the good thing about sports games in the almost unlimited play value and it's great with friends. The video makes we want to get it a little more, but not completely convinced...so convince me further Tim!

Hey -- yeah, that looks like a pretty sweet game! But experience tells me that football games take more patience than other sports games. Hockey, tennis or basketball games for instance are easy to just pick up and play arcade-style. So those are good if that's what you want, or if you have friends over who just want to have fun.
I'd say football games take a little longer to learn, and there's often more strategy involved in terms of play calling, etc. You can't just jump in and play like an arcade game.

But I guess its hard to argue with success -- Madden football must be the best-selling sports game franchise of all time (though i've never really played it myself).

Is there basketball for wii? I can just imagine jumping around in your living room, pretending to dunk etc (again, mike comes to mind). would there be a little finger wagging a-la-Mutombo if we rejected him?

Tim is correct in that Madden is the best sellimg game franchise in existence. So successful that they have signed an exclusive deal with the NFL for the rights to player names thereby eliminating all competition. That's partly why it's coming to Wii.

Yeah, I agree with the football learning curve, because when I first started playing with you on the Dreamcast I was ok, but then after a while I just couldn't compete...especially with extreme passing on.

Matt, I think football is necessarily complicated.... otherwise if it was too simple it'll be no fun and not like real football. If you watched real football, it can get pretty complicated. I don't think it's anti-Wii, because the key is to have games that are easy to pick up and just play AS WELL as games with a lot of depth to gameplay. Just from watching the video, it doesn't look hard to play, ..just a few added features to enhance gameplay.

If I did have Madden I can see the day when Mike is playing and then tries to execute a stiff arm and then actually stiff arming the person next to him. That scenario is guaranteed to happen, haha.

but like all games, once you know the computer's tendencies, you'll still dominate football games once you played them enough. ;)
