Yet Another Link Update

I did a small update to my links on the right again.

First, I created a new folder for just PhotoBlogs. This makes it neater and less confusing because they are sometimes named strangely.

I promoted The Dilbert Blog. It's a written blog by the author, and not the actual comic, which I also already link to. He's a pretty funny guy.

Next is Mark Cuban's Blog, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and dotcom millionaire. I've been reading it for a long time, but unfortunately, he posts less frequently about basketball. He's a big supporter of copyright and DRM, so it's interesting to hear what he has to say. He's a smart guy.

Penny Arcade, the seminal web comic, which happens to be about gaming is worth a daily read. The guys are funny and usually have something interesting to say about recent news.

I demoted Dictionary.com's word of the day, because Wordsmith.org has a better editor. I also got rid of Steve Kerr, one of my favourite Basketball writers because he went and joined the Suns as their GM. I actually don't like that move because it deprives me of his writing and broadcasting. I also demoted Slate's Human Nature feed because I don't read it consistently, although it's decent.

Marginal Revolution is on the verge of being added to my regular rotation and Paul Graham is on the verge of being demoted due to lack of content.

Anyway, let me know if you come across any interesting photoblogs, and I'll add them to my rotation!

I did a little spring cleaning on the Bloglines (an RSS reader) links that I have on the right.

Promotions:

Kottke.org: One of those A-list bloggers. He mostly just posts high quality links. His tagline, "Home of fine hypertext products" is quite clever and also true.

Joke a Day: self-explainatory

Demotions:

A La Cuisine: I actually met the guy IRL, which is strange to meet a fairly popular blogger. Unfortunately, he stopped updating his site! So he will get demoted to my secondary links...for now.

The Daily Tiffin: I used to like this site just to see Soren's (the author's son) lunchbox everyday, but she stopped that. Instead it's a site with general articles and recipes, which, although fairly high in quality, is too lengthy for my tastes. Also it's very "mommy" oriented, which kinda turns me off from it.

Computer Whoa

So my computer decided to spontaneously work again. No reason whatsoever, so I hope it doesn't crap out for no reason either. So I'm pretty sure it's a problem on the motherboard. Cary, this means that your card is likely ok. I don't want to risk switching anything out or even touching it, so I'll leave it as it is for now.

I tried playing Wii on my video in part of my card. First of all, the video quality is absolutely crap. Maybe I'm spoiled with component 480p on a 37" LCD at home, but I don't remember it being this bad. Maybe since I work with video all the time now, I notice the difference more. The other bad part is the perceptible delay. It makes some games almost unplayable, so that's unpleasant. Back in university (Cardill) we use to play Smash on my computer and it wasn't too bad. I remember it was a little dark and had a little delay, but was ok, even for something as sensitive to delay as Smash. But now I'm really noticing it and can't stand it. Looks like I will have to take up Maggie's advice and get the TV going again, but I am a little concerned if that room gets wet again. But I suppose I should be lucky that I can even play at all...or even blog at all!
